LASIK, (Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis) is a surgical procedure that is proven effective for certain kinds of vision correction. It corrects refractive vision problems including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism by reshaping the cornea (the front surface of the eye) to produce clearer vision.
LASIK is an excellent treatment option for many vision conditions, but it's not right for everyone. Before you consider LASIK surgery, we will perform a thorough eye and medical history, and a complete eye examination.
LASIK is a procedure that is performed by a qualified ophthalmologist in an outpatient setting in Minnesota. In some states, such as Oklahoma, qualified optometrists also perform laser eye surgery. LASIK is performed by creating a flap of the surface layers of the cornea, and exposing the middle layers of the cornea to a specialized laser known as an excimer laser. The procedure usually takes less than fifteen minutes to perform. The eye will heal itself and there are no stitches.
A Lasik pre-operative exam may be performed up to two months prior to the procedure to collect the necessary data. Following the surgery there are three or more post-operative exams spread out over three months.
